All assignments are due on time; I accept no late papers or late quizzes. Please note that without an officially documented medical emergency, there will be no make-up exams or incompletes. Completion and submission of all assignments are your own responsibility. Your active participation and willingness to keep pace with all assignments are essential to your success in the course.

We will have short weekly quizzes on your readings and films throughout the semester. These quizzes will consist of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, true-false, multi-select, and/or short answer questions. Always bring two pens and two pencils for in-class exams and quizzes.
Our three exams will consist of multiple choice, multi-select, true-false, fill-in-the-blank, and/or short answer questions. Always bring a scantron and two pencils for in-class exams and quizzes.
There are no term papers for this course, but we will have take-home essays assigned at the end of each section. Please note three important rules about take-home essays:
1. Take-home essays can be open book and open note, but DO NOT PLAGIARIZE your answers. To help avoid plagiarism, do not quote your readings; write in your own words instead and parenthetically cite your references to authors' ideas (Guerrero 86). Do not use any sources beyond our class books and notes--especially the internet, Copying anything from the internet or any other source will earn a zero on the essay, an F in the course, and you will be referred to Student Judicial Affairs for Academic Misconduct for probation, suspension or expulsion.
2. Take-home essays are NOT collaborative assignments. That is, you MUST WORK ALONE or you will earn a zero on the essay, an F in the course, and you will be referred to Student Judicial Affairs for Academic Misconduct for probation, suspension or expulsion.
3. College-level writing skills--including correct content, grammar, mechanics, and organization--are expected on all written assignments.
